The second largest city and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in history. It was the meeting point of several important commercial roads in the north. Aleppo is famous for its architecture: attractive mosques, churches, schools, tombs and baths.

Lattakia is the main coastal city of Syria and an important sea port and gate to the Mediterranean. Lattakia was one of the five cities built by Seleucus Nicator in the second century BC.

320 km south-east of Aleppo, Deir Ezzor is the most important urban centre in the east of Syria. Its river is the Euphrates, lifeline of the region and fount of civilization throughout the ages.

The Aleppo Citadel and Saint Simon Citadel are spectacular citadels located within Aleppo. The Margat Cidatel was a crusader stronghold built on an extinct volcano. 

Towering 650 meters above sea level,  the Crac des Chevaliers controlled the so-called "Homs Gap", which was considered to be the gateway to Syria in medieval times.

Apamea, Ebla, and The Dead Cities are important archeological remains from the rich history of the Mediterranean.
